Bob’s Discount Furniture Donates $14,000 to Virginia and Maryland Schools

Bob’s Discount Furniture today announced that it will donate funds to 14 schools in Virginia and Maryland in support of arts and education programs. These funds are made possible by customer donations to collection jars located in the cafes found in every Bob’s store, which offer free refreshments (including gourmet coffee and fresh-baked cookies) to all Bob’s shoppers.

Bob’s has invited representatives from each of the Maryland schools to its Rockville store, located at the Montrose Crossing Shopping Center, 1211 Rockville Pike, on June 25 to receive the donation checks. Representatives from the Virginia schools are invited to its Falls Church store, located at 5845 Leesburg Pike, on June 26. For the events, Bob’s will also provide food and hand out “Heavenly Skies & Lullabies” books, which are published by the Heavenly Productions Foundation.

“June is a special month for Bob’s as we are doubling the number of schools we provide funds for in our monthly school donation program, so 14 schools in the greater D.C. area will benefit,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We value the community support we receive at all of our locations, and are thrilled to help enhance education and arts programs in Maryland and Virginia.”

Each of the following seven Virginia schools will receive $1,000 checks:

Bailey’s Elementary School, Falls Church
Belvedere Elementary School, Falls Church
Falls Church High School, Falls Church
George Mason High School, Falls Church
Glen Forest Elementary School, Falls Church
JEB Stuart High School, Falls Church
Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Falls Church

Each of the following seven Maryland schools will receive $1,000 checks:

Cesar Chavez Elementary, Hyattsville
Northwestern High School, Hyattsville
St. Jerome Academy, Hyattsville
Farmland Elementary School, Rockville
Meadow Hall Elementary School, Rockville
Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville
Thomas S. Wootton High School, Rockville

Every month, Bob's randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its stores and makes a donation of $1,000. This month, Bob’s Discount Furniture is supporting education and arts programs in Virginia and Maryland with the cash awards. With stores across New England, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Virginia, Bob’s has donated money to hundreds of schools over the last 20 years. Past recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
